The importance of cold pressing

All of our oils are produced through cold pressing. By applying pressure to the seeds from two sides, the oil is squeezed out. It is of great importance to keep the seeds cool while doing this. If the temperature of the seeds increases too much, this can cause important ingredients to go to waste, for example the Omega 3 and Omega 9 fatty acids.

When cold pressed oils are regularly ingested and properly dosed they can contribute to a healthier life. Cold pressed oils can provide us with some of our daily nutritional needs, but they can also protect us against disease by strengthening our immune system.

Omega 3 and Omega 9 fatty acids are necessary for healthy functioning of all systems in the human body. Fatty acids like these contribute to a healthier skin, better functioning of the immune system and a healthy heart and circulatory system. In the rest of this article we discuss the six main functions of cold-pressed oils.

1. Protection against heart disease

Cold pressed oils contain monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids, large concentrations of vitamins and antioxidants. These components are known to protect us against heart disease.

2. Antioxidant effect

When seeds are cold pressed and don’t get exposed to heat they maintain their antioxidant properties. The vitamins A, D, E and K all contribute to these antioxidant effects. For example, the oxidation of LDL (bad cholesterol) is prevented by this.

3. Strengthening the immune system

The active substances in cold pressed oils help immune cells to do their job and to multiply. Free radicals, which may result from stress, smoking, drinking alcohol and unhealthy food can be eliminated by these components.

4. More energy

Because cold pressed oils contain various monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids, they are an important source of energy. When we consume these products on a daily basis they help to combat fatigue and contribute to feeling fit.

5. Healthier Skin

The vitamins and anti-oxidants that can be found in cold-pressed oils contribute to the strengthening of the connective tissue of our skin. The connective tissue, among other things, gives the skin its elasticity. Due to the influence of free radicals this elasticity may deteriorate and result in wrinkles. The antioxidants found in cold-pressed oils combat these free radicals.

6. Healthier hair

When cold-pressed oils are used externally they can help to give your hair a healthier and shinier appearance. In addition, they can help to prevent and combat dandruff.
